The LAMY Design
LAMY writing instruments are always unmistakably LAMY. Our sense of design consistently focuses on functional value. Lamy’s design language centres on function and aesthetics. Our design stands for timeless modernity. LAMY products are traditionally designed according to the Bauhaus philosophy of “form follows function.”
LAMY has repeatedly been recognised for its design and the high level of innovative technical quality of its products. In fact, LAMY is the writing instrument brand that has received the most awards worldwide.
A Blueprint for the LAMY Design Principle: The LAMY 2000
The LAMY 2000 established LAMY's design principles, which remain valid to this day: reduced in form, yet perfect in function. The distinctive design of the LAMY 2000 fountain pen, created by Gerd A. Müller, is characterised by its elegant silhouette and the use of high-quality materials. When the LAMY 2000 was launched in 1966, it made design history: functional, minimalist, and timeless.
To mark the 58th anniversary of the LAMY 2000, a unique special edition of the piston fountain pen made of dark green polycarbonate with a polished stainless steel clip is being released (pictured). The fountain pen is presented in an elegant gift box including a notebook and biography of the designer Gerd A. Müller as part of an exclusive collector's set. This anniversary edition is limited to 5,058 pieces and numbered consecutively.
LAMY Design Milestones
Our product icons from LAMY aion to LAMY 2000: In their own individual ways, writing instruments from LAMY embody the design principles of the LAMY brand. They all pursue one common aim: to bring aesthetics and functionality into perfect harmony.
LAMY Designers
Writing instruments from LAMY are created in cooperation with internationally renowned designers and design studios. The typical LAMY design always remains in place and clearly recognisable here – thanks to the proven design principles of the brand, which are based on consistent symbiosis of aesthetics and functionality. This means that writing instruments are created, which time and again interpret the distinctive Lamy design in a new and individual way.
